A great big thank you to all of the attendees at this year's 5th Annual Taste of Our Town held May 18th at David H. Murdock's Ventura Farms. Mr. Murdock treated our 220 guests to an Arabian horse show, presented exclusively for them on the grounds of Ventura Farms. Attendees also strolled the exquisite grounds, featuring nine individually exotic-themed gardens, while sampling the wide-ranging cuisine of eleven top-notch local restaurants.

Thank you to 678 Catering, B.J.’s Restaurant, Bandit’s Grill and Bar, Boccaccio’s, Cisco's Mexican Restaurant, Baja Fresh, For Heavens Cakes, Mediterraneo, Starbucks,
Tuscany Ristorante, and Wades Wines who donated delectable food and beverages as well as their staff to serve our guests.

Thank you to our attendees for so enthusiastically bidding at our special and unique live and silent auction items. Bob Byers, Jr. was our Master of Ceremonies and our auctioneer who helped us raise an incredible $161,000.00 with your generous support!

With generous community, business and individual support, our event was 100% underwritten. Since Support for the Kids has no overhead and no paid staff, 100% of the proceeds are channeled into programs and services for the population we serve - the underprivileged and foster kids of Ventura County.

Fourteen years ago Lynda Miller had a dream to help the foster kids as she worked within the court system. She started her organization Support for the Kids working out of her residence. All these years later, Support for the Kids serves over 20,000 foster and underprivileged kids and their familes, each and every year. She and the Board work 24/7 on behalf of Support for the Kids (certified in 2001 as 501(c)3 nonprofit agency) and is proud to say that there is still no paid staff and no overhead. All donations go to services for the kids. Her active Board and wide base of valued volunteers offer support for the many programs and activities provided to the kids and their families, among them trips to cultural centers such as Pepperdine Center for the Arts for plays and concerts, seasonal parties such as back-to-school, Easter, Fall Festival and our annual Christmas party at Chuck E Cheese. The kids receive a chance to socialize and have fun and create wonderful memories at our parties.
